Description
The Pierre Auger Observatory has developed its activities in the field of education and dissemination of astrophysics and high-energy astroparticle physics since 1998, the year when the fundamental stone was installed. A permanent improvement of the tools used has been achieved. The innovations follows two ways: externally, in terms of the facilities for visitors, which are renewed approximately every five years; but also internally, through continuous training and evaluation of the capabilities of the personnel and the cooperation with the collaborators on the 17 countries working in the Observatory. The link between the outreach office and the members of the Collaboration who contribute to the task is also permanent and has been reinforced. In this presentation, the contact between the Observatory and the community, focusing on the new proposals, will be shown. This includes the open data policy, master classes for middle-level students and teachers, the design of innovative activities that involve the community, and the presence of the Observatory in special events with the participation of students. It is worth mentioning that the evaluation of all this work and of the social impact of the Observatory allows a redesigning of strategies for improving communication with the public, taking into account social responsibility and projecting a vision for the new challenges of the Observatory in outreach.
